This is the first and only commercial plant in the world to produce natural Polyols from Palm Oil. We have one of the most efficient and cost effective conversion processes of any natural oil to Polyol.We offer Natural Oil Polyols that are not only green but cheaper than synthetic raw materials. It not only has a very high renewable raw material content of above 90% but it comes also with an in-house developed, waste-free process resulting in a natural Polyol product that offers direct cost savings to any and all customers.Our products are used in higher concentrations than other natural Polyols. Although Palm Oil is a more sustainable source of vegetable oil than other oil crops, it is very complicated! The cultivation and global trade of agricultural commodities come with well-documented cost and benefits for people, planet and profit. As an agricultural commodity cultivated in the tropics, palm oil inevitably competes for land with the rainforest, local communities and indigenous people. Oil palm is entirely GMO-free and produces up to 10 times more oil per unit area than soybean, rape seed or sunflower. Oil palm produces more than 34% (palm and palm kernel oil) of the world's eight major vegetable oils on less than 5% of the total area under oil crops. This means that to produce the same volume of oil, Palm Oil requires much less land.The Palm Oil industry is also a big provider of jobs that no nation can afford to ignore. Statistics say 1 employee is needed for every 5 - 7 hectares hence Indonesian plantations could provide jobs for up to a million people. As palm oil leaves a large footprint in South East Asia with 4 million hectares in Malaysia and 7 million in Indonesia, this places a big responsibility on industry players as the equatorial belt is high in biodiversity and inhabited by many poor communities whose ways of life are not necessarily served by the global marketplace.In response to these concerns, growers as well as users have formed multiple initiatives internally as well as collectively such as with the objective of promoting the growth and use of sustainable oil palm. The Palm Oil (Elaeis guineensis) is an ancient plant that still grows wild in West Africa while also cultivated there and across the tropics. Its oil, extracted from its fruits, has been used as food and medicine through the ages, the earliest archaelogical evidence is an earthenware jar containing residues of palm oil in a 5,000-year-old Egyptian tomb. Palm oil is a ubiquitous ingredient in everything from cosmetics and ice-cream to animal feed and pharmaceuticals.The Industrial Revolution in 19th century Europe sparked the international trade in palm oil when demand soared for it as a lubricant for steam engines and other machinery and for soap. In 1848, the Dutch brought the first African oil palm seedlings to the Far East that later spawned the Southeast Asian oil palm industry. Today, unstable and at times soaring petroleum prices and increasing concern about global warming have increased the demand for palm oil as a feedstock for biodiesel, a renewable and green substitute (in the view of some) for diesel. However, it is our view that an edible oil should not be used to be burnt in an engine or power plant. Any large scale use of the limited availability of oils and fats will result in an unsustainable price development affecting the poorer part of the world. Whereas oils and fats including Palm Oil used for Oleochemistry such as soaps, cosmetics or technical specialities which add value to the raw materials and to the producing parties should be welcomed.
